According to the case, Meena Mangal, wife Gulabchand Mangal, a resident of Bari, had taken LIC’s Jeevan Arogya Yojana policy on 14 August 201& to cover the expenses of future diseases, treatment and operation etc. The premium was also deposited by the woman on time. About five years after taking the policy, the woman’s health deteriorated. From 14 to 17 April 2019, the woman was admitted to a hospital in Agra. After this, the woman was admitted to the hospital in Jaipur after her condition worsened. Where the woman was admitted from 17 to 27 April 2019. During this, the cost of treatment was about three lakh rupees. LIC was contacted to claim the amount spent on behalf of the woman. On this, the woman was given a claim of only Rs 59800 on behalf of LIC. On this, the woman filed a case before the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

Commission’s Chairman Ashok Kumar Sharma II, members Yadunath Sharma and Smt. Krishna Aggarwal, while hearing the matter, considered LIC to be accused of service fault. The commission ordered LIC to pay two lakh five thousand two hundred and three (20520&) to the complainant woman under the policy. 59800 has already been paid by the Insurance Corporation. In such a situation, the corporation should pay the balance amount 14540. from 10th October 2019 till repayment with 4% interest eg. Apart from this, the Insurance Corporation should also pay five thousand rupees to the complainant woman for compensation of mental agony and two thousand rupees for complaint expenses. Order was also given to implement the order in one month.
